Scuba Diving
With more than a million square miles of ocean, 800 plus reef systems, and innumerable species of marine and coral
life, the Marshall Islands are certainly paradise for scuba divers and snorklers. There is 84 degree water temperature
year round and 100-plus foot visibility so diving here is about as great as it gets.
The big attractions of the Marshalls is the many World War Two plane and ship wrecks throughout the island nation.
Well known Bikini Atoll, as well as Jaluit, Kawajalein, Mili and Wotje are places where you'll find dozens of famous
wrecks only recently opened to visiting divers. The vast majority of the island chain is just waiting to be discovered
by divers that are looking to escape the crowds and to visit new waters. Dive operators are located on Majuro and
Bikini atolls.
In addition to the wrecks, the reefs, untouched for the last 20 years, are an adventure into new discovery. Lush
coral gardens bursting in rainbow hues populate the miles of reefs. Fishes of the Pacific are the most colorful
in the world.
Water visibility: up to 100-plus feet.
Water temperature: 84F year-round
Natural attractions / marine life: Sea fans, pinnacles, walls, channels, sharks, turtles, rays, whales, giant clams,
pelagic schools and reef fish.
Wrecks: German, Japanese and US WW2 wrecks in abundance, including both ships and aircraft.
Fishing
Visitors to the Marshall Islands can enjoy our bountiful fishing conditions with a sizable fleet of motorized fishing
charter boats. This fleet offers an array of international standard fishing equipment, fishing specialties and
crews with unsurpassed natural fishing experience.
Although most sport fishing currently focuses on trolling for big game fish and to some extent on bottom fishing,
there is no doubt that the Marshall Islands possess excellent fly fishing opportunities for bonefish, trevally,
and other types of fish.
Beaches
Nearly all of the Marshalls have beautiful, white sandy beaches, perfect for enjoying sun-filled days and working
on that tan.
Shopping
You can find original Marshall Islands T-shirts, books, beach towels, collectors stamps, post cards, mugs, polo
shirts, pullovers and more at locations around Majuro.
Marshallese handicrafts are known throughout the Central Pacific region for their high quality workmanship and
originality, and for the use of natural products.
You will find woven baskets, fans, hats, wall hangings, purses, mats, coasters, Marshallese stick charts and much
more! They are made within the homes of the Marshallese people, and with the natural resources found mostly on
the outer atolls. These include such raw materials as coconut, pandanas leaves, and likajir shells. One can also
find a wonderful array of coconut oil products ranging from hand soaps to laundry detergent. Not only are these
products softening to the skin, but they are biodegradable and won't damage the environment.
